The Philippines has fallen FIFTY-TWO places since GMA replaced Estrada FOR CORRUPTION! Apparently, we were better off under Estrada. But instead of being embarrassed and ashamed about it, Gloria is blaming, and arresting everyone else.

After pouncing on the people and their civil liberties, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo would now want the nation to believe that she and her cabal are determined to pursue reforms through changes in the constitution or charter change. Her schemers and operators in government launch the “people’s initiative” as their controlled way towards “chacha” or charter change. But, like most of her government’s political projects, it is once more meant only to prolong her stay in power, to cover up and enable her to avoid facing up to the issues of massive and blatant corruption and election cheating. Akbayan joins many people in saying: We won’t dance the cha-cha unless Gloria faces the music!
In peace and solidarity,
