A great tribute was paid by social and political activists to martyr Rashid Rehman at a memorial meeting organised by Joint Action Committee For People’s Rights Lahore at Aiwan Iqbal.
Over 2000 packed the main hall to hear leading activists from all over Pakistan.
Those who spoke on the occasion were Asma Jehanghir, Abid Hasan Minto, Ayaz Latif Paleejo, I A Rehman, Senator Afrasayab Khatak, Shahid Mehmood Nadeem, Rubina Sehgal, Rubina Jamil, Tanvir Jahan, Wajahat Masood, Khurshid Ahmad, Bushra Khaliq and myself.
Speakers paid glowing tribute to martyr Rashid Rehman and vowed to continue the path of Rashid Rehman. They said the religious fundamentalists are becoming more and more violent and using neo fascist tactics to kill opponents one by one.
“They want to frightened us but we refuse to do that. One Rashid is gone and hundred has taken his place. There is no going back and we will fight back”.

There was a good enthusiasm at the meeting. A lot of slogans raise against terrorism and fundamentalism.
It was of one the best attended meeting of JAC, workers, peasants, women, youth activists, literary personalities and lot of women participated in the three hours long proceeding.
A short documentary on Rashid Rehman life was presented in the bringing.
