The LPP Lahore Committee was elected last week in Lahore LPP Congress and they decided to elect their representative today after a detailed discussion.
Here is a brief introduction of the office bearers of LPP Lahore elected today.
Ammar Ali Jan: general secretary: joined the Labour Party in 2006, teaches at present at Beacon house University Lahore, has played an important role in developing Progressive Youth Front, was one of active member of lawyers’ movement, fought bravely at GPO Chouck in 2009 against police during the long march, has been jailed for fighting community services, recently chaired the successful Pakistan Afghanistan Progressive parties two-day conference in Lahore.
Rabia Shahzadi, women secretary: Rabia is practizing lawyer at Lahore High Court. She joined LPP in 2001 and has been active in the party since then. She was one of the activists of the lawyers’ movement and has played an important role in building Progressive Youth Front in its early stages.
Waris Ali, labour secretary: Waris Ali is a senior trade union leader and heads the workers’ union at Workers Welfare Board, has fought many battles for workers’ rights, has been in jail several times for workers cause and also did a lot of community work.
Javed Bhatti, education and cultural secretary: has developed Good Books, now work as manager Jamhoori Publications, is a former Railway Workers Union leader, he was also general secretary of LPP Lahore earlier.
Ghulam Dastgir Shah, Kissan secretary: is a peasant leader from Charar Pind, has fought for the peasant’s rights on several occasions, is part of LPP for over six years.
Murtaza Bajwa, youth secretary: organizer of Progressive Youth Front Lahore, is a member of LPP for over two years, has led several youth rallies.
LPP Lahore decided to launch a campaign for the reinstatement of the PTCL workers, hold regular lectures for education, to organise LPP in all towns of Lahore, will help develop the labour movement in the city.
