We know this is true. The “Social Movement” has received many complaints (in particular, from doctors). At some enterprises, the workload increases, while some employers are introducing temporary or part-time employment. This boosts social tension. Decisions to weaken the contract and working conditions of employees are often against the law. But neo-liberalism advocates are trying [to use the invasion context] to simplify the lives of employers...
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine has reacted to the aggression of the Russian Federation by claiming the presence of force-majeure (exceptional circumstances) from February 24th. The Ministry of Economy sees in this letter hardly a card-blanche on the release of bosses from sanctions for breaching obligations (including for unpaid wages). Although the lawyers consider the publication of these letters to be an incorrect step, the open disagreement has spread to an unlimited circle of entrepreneurs.
The confrontation continues. Today, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on the government to stimulate businesses by reducing taxes and passing a scandalous bill to simplify the regulation of labor relations (5371). Under the cover of war, it is proposed to pass a law that could simplify dismissal, as a new permanent arrangement.
The most alarming proposal against workers is the introduction of Galina Tretyakova’ draf Bill 7160 on organizing labor relations during the war period. It actually introduces a 6-day 60-hour workweek, repeals mandatory vacation and allows for free transfers and dismissals.
Such measures transfer the burden of war from the richest to the labour majority, therefore they are unacceptable.
Ukrainian soldiers are fighting for their loved ones to have a welfare and a worthy future. The rescue of Ukraine requires mobilization of resources on fair basis. The alternative to “war capitalism” is deoligarchization, closing down offshore holdings [of Ukrainian oligarchs] and the abolition of Ukraine’s foreign debt.
