“The Wall Street Journal” recent report stated that the war on the Gaza Strip has caused destruction “comparable in scale to the most devastating urban warfare in the modern record,” after the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) dropped over 29,000 bombs, munitions, and shells.
The IOF’s bombing campaign destroyed approximately 70% of the 439,000 homes in the Gaza Strip.
“The bombing has damaged Byzantine churches and ancient mosques, factories and apartment buildings, shopping malls and luxury hotels, theaters and schools. Much of the water, electrical, communications and healthcare infrastructure that made Gaza function is beyond repair.”
“The word ‘Gaza’ is going to go down in history along with Dresden and other famous cities that have been bombed,” said Robert Pape to the Wall Street Journal, a political scientist at the University of Chicago and the author of a history of aerial bombing. “What you’re seeing in Gaza is in the top 25% of the most intense punishment campaigns in history.”
According to analysis of satellite data by remote-sensing experts at the City University of New York and Oregon State University, as many as 80% of the buildings in northern Gaza, where the bombing has been most severe, are damaged or destroyed, a higher percentage than in Dresden.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced the latest death toll of the Israeli Occupation aggression - over 21,500 martyrs and more than 55,915 injured since October 7.
The occupation confirmed the deaths of around 1,200 settlers and soldiers, while the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) acknowledged the death of 502 officers and soldiers since October 7, including 168 fatalities since the start of the ground invasion on October 27.
