The leaders from Gen. Z tried to escape from the blames of instigating this violent behavior by claiming that “our movement was hijacked”. This is not sufficient explanation of the violence carried out in those two days. This were not a political response to the killings of the youth by the state machinery but acting in the same manner. The wife of a former prime minister was burnt alive.
Now, in the aftermath of the two days of upsurge, the proposed interim government will have to deal this important aspect of the killings of youth and the absolute violent behavior of the lumpen element during the upsurge.
There is no justification of these two aspects of the storming days in the history of Nepal.
The conduct of the mass movement in Bangladesh was much more mature and was able to topple the government without going to such level of violence afterwards. They asked people to come in the streets in maximum numbers. That worked very well and Hasina has to run away from the presidential palace.
Although, we were not happy about the role of the alliance government of CPN (UML) in carrying out policies that were not favoring to end inequalities. The conduct of the prime minister Oli and relevant ministers to resign in the aftermath of 19 killings was necessary and accepted the responsibility.
However, the conduct of Gene. Z leadership was not to match this one, who failed to control the mob psychology of looting and burning of the buildings and massive loss of properties and vehicles.
We will never second this sort of “lumpenism” in response to the killings by the state. Ultimately, this will back fire. The future interim government cannot ignore this” lumpensim either.
