Our association Europe Solidaire Sans Frontières (Europe in Solidarity Without Borders) - a French-based international solidarity organisation founded in 2000 that supports progressive movements across Asia, Latin America and other regions has committed to ensuring continuity of financial support towards these movements, even when the situation in their countries disappears from international news radars.
Our policy is to help these movements carry out their actions according to the priorities they determine themselves. We do not impose “our” projects on our partners. The entirety of the funds we receive is transmitted to them. The small volunteer team that carries out the work of the association functions itself finances the modest “internal” costs (website, newsletters, etc.).
Our partner organisations
In the Philippines we support the Mindanao Humanitarian Alliance for Development and Social Services (MiHands) - a network of approximately 50 civil society organisations based in Mindanao, with multiple areas of intervention, in the south of the archipelago, particularly in the region where populations of Christian or Muslim cultures cohabit, as well as the indigenous Lumad peoples [1].
In Bangladesh we support the peasant associations Bangladesh Krishok Federation (Bangladesh Farmers’ Federation - BKF) - a grassroots peasant organisation advocating for land rights and agricultural workers’ interests]] and Bangladesh Khet Majoor Samity (Bangladesh Agricultural Workers’ Association - BKS), engaged primarily, with small farmers who cultivate public domain lands left fallow, victims of landlords’ henchmen or climate disasters.
In Indonesia we support the Perempuan Mahardika (Free Women) association, engaged notably in defending the social and reproductive rights of women workers in industrial zones in the clothing sector and the fight against gender-based violence in the domestic sphere as well as in the workplace.
In Pakistan we support the Crofter Foundation which prioritises defending the interests of the peasantry and collaborates with the Labour Education Foundation to respond to political and humanitarian emergencies.
Current crises requiring urgent support
Pakistan has been struck by floods of unprecedented severity for decades and the humanitarian situation is absolutely disastrous in entire regions [2]. Rising ocean waters and typhoons are devastating part of Bangladesh, whilst the activists ensuring solidarity can be repressed by local major landowners. In the Philippines, defending the marginalised populations of Mindanao, whom the established powers attempt to dispossess, remains a constant, whilst a vast movement against corruption is developing in the country [3]. The same applies in Indonesia where our sister organisation, Free Women, plays a particularly active role and where the government seems to be opting for repression of the democratic movement [4].
In mid-November, we will launch our new appeal to initiate the permanent solidarity fund for 2026. The success of this appeal will be very important for engaging next year in good solidarity conditions – but in the meantime, we must respond to present emergencies.
We thank in advance all those who can help us with this.

How to send donations
All donations we receive are transmitted to their recipients. The small team of ESSF coordinators covers the association’s operating costs and website expenses.
Donations to ESSF can be “dedicated” by indicating the country to which they are intended. Unmarked donations are paid into the permanent Asia solidarity fund and distributed according to emergencies to our partners. Donations can be one-off, in the form of monthly transfers (which helps us to plan) or a combination of both.
“Small” donations also count! There is no amount too modest for solidarity.
Donations can be made in the form of cheques (in euros only and payable in France), by bank transfers directly to our association’s account, and via HelloAsso or PayPal. Access to all payment methods is indicated on our website’s homepage.
