The fact “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty” proved itself true in a remote village of Dir District of North West Pakistan where the locals attacked on a stronghold of Taliban militants near Pak-Afghan bordering area last night which resulted the killing of more than a dozen Taliban militants , it is reported .
According to the details collected from local journalists and political circles, the recent attack by the locals of the area was actually a retaliation of a deadly suicide attack committed in a Friday’s religious gathering at a Mosque in the village, named Hayagai Sharqi which caused the killings of more than the 45 innocent commoners of the area. Local Taliban claimed the responsibility of this suicide attack and termed it as an action against the locals of this area for non-cooperation with the militants and supporting the ongoing military operation against Taliban in the Malakand Division.
After this bloodshed at the religious gathering, the angry locals of the area gathered in a Jirga (people’s assembly) and decided to take revenge the killing of more than 40 loclas from the Taliban as well as to maintain peace and harmony in the area. In this regard, the Jirga formed a armed Lashkar (militia) against the Taliban and in the mid night, they attacked the village, namely Doog Darra, situated near Pak-Afghan bordering area, which resulted the killing of more than 12 Taliban militants, according to the beginning information received from this remote area.
The security expert and political analyst are terming the action of the locals against the Taliban militants as a positive trend which will support the Pakistan military’s action against the militants in the Malakand Division. They are also associating this incident to the defeat of the Taliban to some extent.
People’s resistance against the Taliban militants is not a new phenomenon is this region. People have formed Lashkars for their self-defence of their own areas and to resist the entrance of the Taliban militants in many parts of the Pakhtoon province of the Pakistan esp in the districts of Swat, Buner, Dir and tribal agencies of Bajour, Mohmand, Khyber and Orakzai. But sadly the due to lack of government’s support and backing of Pakistan’ spy agencies to these Taliban militants group dishearten the resistance of the people.
