Today is the first death anniversary of our beloved comrade who sacrificed their precious lives in way of revolutionary cause to organize workers on Dec13-14 2009 in Balochistan.
Comrade Abdul Salam Comrade Najma Khanum, Comrade Rehana Kausar, Comrade Wahid Baloch along with Comrade Rafiq Baloch were on organizational visit to Hub, Pasni, Gawadar, Ormara and area near Iranian border on Balochistan coastal belt after attending series of meetings to organize home based women workers and fisheries workers in unions they were on their way back to Karachi on the Coastal Highway where four of these comrades lost their lives and Comrade Rafiq Baloch was severely injured in the fatal car accident at Basil near Ormara.
Labour Party, National Trade Union Federation, Labour Education Foundation and Home Based Women Workers Federation lost their most brilliant and committed comrades in the tragedy.
Comrade Abdul Salam (28 year) was the General Secretary of Labour Party Pakistan Karachi, Central Finance Secretary of National Trade Union Federation and known poet and writer of Pashto language, he had translated one of the outstanding novels of Comrade Noor Mohammed Tarah Kai, leader of Afghan Sur Revolution. Comrade Abdul Salam was also work for LEF since long.
Comrade Najma Khanum (39 year) was the well know social and political activist in Gadap Town in suburb of Karachi, she was the elected Councilor on general seat in Gadap Town council. She was one of the pioneer of home based women workers campaign to recognize them as worker in law and right to form union, she had had plan to have all women candidates penal to contest all post in coming local bodies election. She was the former member of Pakistan Hockey squad. She had established women theatre group called “Apna Theatre”. She also run Home Based women workers Cooperatives (Gadap) established by Labour Education Foundation (LEF) in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Comrade Rehana Kausar (25 year) active member of Labour Party and coordinator of LEF and leader of Home Based Women Worker Federation, she was the co founder of “Apna Theatre” she was the only breadearning souces for her entire family.
Comrade Wahid Baloch was the active trade unionist and had been sacked from job because of deeply involved in trade union formation. He was the member of Balochistan committee of National Trade Union Federation.
All the four late comrades were from working class families and well committed with revolutionary ideas and were at the forefront of working class struggle against capitalist exploitation and all kind of gender discrimination against women especially women from working class.
Their sacrifices and commitment with the cause given new meaning and courage to the comrades in workers movement and will always remember the departed comrade with revolutionary velour.
It is great moment that the cause for which the beloved comrades shed their blood has bear some result, it is unique experience to get registered three unions of HBWW in glass bangle (Hyderabad), garment and embroidery (Quetta) and these member based women workers unions formed Home Based Women Workers Federation (HBWWF) and get registered with National Industrial Relation Commission, Pakistan (NIRC). It is for the first time in history of trade union movement a entirely women workers member based country wide trade union federation is formed and this achievement is dedicated to our beloved comrade.
Labour Party, National Trade Union Federation, Labour Education Foundation, Home Based Women Workers Federation, Progressive Youth Front, Sindh Hari Porheat Committee and Sindh Labour Relief Committee reimbursing revolutionary reverence to the comrades and pledge to struggle steadfastly for the just cause of working class and lofty aim , the triumphant of Socialist system.
