On the invitation of Pakistan Kisan Rabita Committee, several South Asian parliamentarians and important peasant leaders are coming to Pakistan today. They will participate in the Parliamentary Round Table Caucus on food sovereignty in cooperation with the South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE) thematic group on Food Sovereignty, Climate Change, Livelihood and Employment to be held on 23/24th January in Islamabad.
They include Sayedul Hoque MP, chairman parliamentarian standing committee on food and disaster Bangladesh, Probadh Pande member Lok Sabha India, Rehana Aktar mp Bangladesh, Prem Dingle general secretary All Nepal Peasant Federation, Keshav Lal Shrestha, Deputy President of ANPF and a former federal minister in Napal, Arif Afghani, general secretary Afghan Labour Revolutionary Organisation, Mustafa Kamal Bangladesh Equity BD and several others.
There are several Pakistan national parliaments who would participate in the two days proceedings including Nazar Gondal federal food minister, Sardar Asif Ahmad Ali federal minister Education and Science, Riaz Fatyana, chairman parliamentarian human rights standing committee, Farah Naz Isphehani MNA member parliamentarian standing committee on food, Jamila Begum MNA, Senator Hasil Bezinjo, Senator Dr. Abdul Malik, Senater Mohammed Ali Durrani and several others.
Agriculture experts and peasants leaders who will speak at the round table caucus include Boota Sarwar commissioner special crops, Mian Asif Sharif, a renowned progressive agriculture expert and author of several new techniques to enhance agriculture product, Mehr Abdul Sattar general secretay Anjmana Mozareen Punjab, Dr Ayub Goraya, Mohammed Shakil senior researcher SDPI Islamabad, Professor Maqbool Babri, a renowned consultant, Karamat Ali director Pakistan Institute of Research and Labour, Farooq Tariq secretary Pakistan Kissan Rabita Committee, Bushra Khaliq general secretary Women Workers Help Line, Younas Rahu representative Sindh Hari Poriat Committee, Zafar Adil, Mazdoor Kissan Itehad Khaiber Pukhtoon Khawa, Khalid Malik director Labour Eduction Foundation and several others.
Today Labour Party Pakistan Lahore activists will receive comrade Probadh Pande member Lok Sabha India at Lahore airport who is visiting Pakistan for the first time. He is one of the main leaders of Communist party of India (CPI), elected four times from a constituency in West Bengal.
The leaders of All Nepal Peasant Federation, comrade Prem Dingle and Keshav Lal Shrestha will address Islamabad Bar Association today on 22nd January at one pm on the joint invitation of Islamabad Bar Association and Democratic Lawyers Forum.
