After suffering for more than 30 years, in which oppression, repression, tyranny and impoverishment were practiced against the Egyptian people, a revolution against Mubarak’s regime erupted. A complete popular revolution was launched by the heroic Egyptian youth on the 25th of January 2011. In this revolution, all Egyptians created an unprecedented heroic epic in modern history. With the continued resistance of this great revolution and its persistence on its main demand, the fall of the tyrant and corrupt regime of Mubarak, the Egyptian Leftists, represented under the Egyptian Leftist Alliance, hereby declares:
1. The Egyptian Left considers itself part of the great Egyptian Revolution Powers, and insists on the revolution’s main demand, which is the stepping down of Mubarak from his post as president, and to bring down the corrupt and tyrant regime, which the revolution has already succeeded in bringing down a lot of its cornerstones and removing their legitimacy that was established on fraudulence, oppression and tyranny.
2. The dissolution of the forged and rigged Parliament, which does not represent the Egyptian will, in order to pave the way for conducting free and fair elections under a new Constitution, new democratic laws and under domestic and international supervision and monitoring.
3. The formation of a civil and non-partisan government consisting of patriotic figures who are integrate, efficient and caring for the Egyptian people and their demands in order to conduct the country’s affairs during the transitional period.
4. The formation of a Constituent Assembly of legal and political figures to frame a new democratic Constitution for the country.
5. An immediate and public trial for everyone who is involved in killing and terrorizing Egyptians before, during and after the 25th of January 2011. On top of the list comes Habib Al-Adly, the former Minister of Interior, and his assistants who used violence and brutality against unarmed Egyptians, as well as all symbols and corrupt businessmen who have/had interests with this defunct regime.
6. The immediate termination of the State of Emergency and the so-called “Parties Affairs Committee”. In addition, allowing the complete freedom of association for all Egyptians including political parties and syndicates, as well as Civil Society and Human Rights Organizations so that it is done by only notifying the competent administrative entities.
7. Taking immediate steps to alleviate the suffering of the people including setting a minimum and maximum wage, providing unemployment subsidy compensations, providing subsidies for the poor and providing the basic commodities with proper prices. Furthermore, a real development plan has to be drafted that is based on improving the agricultural and industrial sectors, fair distribution for the development product and imposing progressive taxes.
8. It is necessary that the Egyptian Army goes back to practice its normal role, which is protecting the country from foreign enemies, in order to stay away from being involved in the domestic political process and leave it entirely to the Egyptian political civil society.
Long live the 25th of January Revolution
Long Live the Struggle of the Revolutionary Egyptian People
