Awami Workers Party express its deepest condolences to the families and friends of all those killed yesterday in deadliest attacks by religious fanatics in Swat and Quetta.
Over 115 were killed. In Quetta, it was a shrewd plan to kill more. There were two explosion planned, the second killing two media men, several police officers and volunteers. 94 died in the two attacks in Quetta alone. Over 200 have been injured, some in very serious conditions according to the media reports.
Majority of the people killed in the Alamdart Road blasts belonged to the Hazara Shia community. The banned Lashkar-i-Janghvi has claimed the responsibility. This is clearly a religious sectarian killings and the Shia community from Hazara origin has been under attack consistently.
In another incident, 22 died in Swat Tableeghi centre blast.
AWP expresses its deepest concern on the growing incidents of sectarian killings. The religious fanatics are all out to make sure that act of violence suppress any descending voices. Yesterday incidents demands a serious review of the government policies towards the security issues.
Government of Baluchistan should take extra ordinary measures to protect the Shia community and take fresh actions against those involved in such violent incidents.
We also demand that government should stop all state support to the private religious institutions. The madrassas should be nationalized and the teachers in these Madrassas should be trained in public education syllabus.
