Bala Tampoe (1922-2014) was general secretary of the Ceylon Mercantile Union (CMU), a major union in Sri Lanka. The following interview on the political situation in Sri Lanka was given to Salah Jaber and Bernard Gibbons in Paris on April 25, 1990 and appeared in the May 21, 1990 issue of International Viewpoint.
