AWP demands an immediate arrest of those who sold poisonous alcohol the Christmas community at Toba
Farooq Tariq spokesperson Awami Workers Party said in a statement that the District police officer at Toba Tek Singh ordered that no alcohol should be sold to local Christian community at Christmas; however, some police constables from Chutiana police station thought to make money by selling locally made alcohol to the community. Three constables brought it some from another town and sold locally, this alcohol was poisonous, 109 young Christian along some elders were effected by this alcohol. Till now 36 have died and more are in line
Today AWP Toba president Mohammed Zubair spent some hours with the community along with others members and have motivated many for a protest against police involved and demanded an immediate arrest of all those involved in selling the poisonous alcohol
Mohammed Zubair also criticised the local police who who did not allow the Christian community to buy the alcohol made at Pakistan alcohol factories although they have a legitimise right to buy alcohol.
AWP Spokesperson Farooq Tariq expressed it deep condolences to the families of all those who lost their loved ones, and hope the rest would survive. He demanded a compensation of at least 500,000 Rupees to all those who died on their holy day, and 100,000 for all those effected by this incident because of the greed of few.
Farooq Tariq demanded that Chief minister should immediately visit Toba Tek Singh and take action against all those involved in the death of 36 Poor Christians.
