CPBML General Secretary and Bangladesh Krishok Federation President comrade Badrul Alam presided over the human chain while Bangladesh Labor Federation General Secretary Fayez Hossain conducted. CPML Polit Bureau Member comrade Zayed Iqbal, Bangladesh Landless people Association General Secretary Subal Sarker, Women leader Rehana Begum, Advocate Ambia Khatun Shila, Sathi Roy, Hosne Ara Begum, Rijia Begum, Honufa Begum, Gnotantrik Majdur Party leader Doctor Shamsul Alam, Ganotantric League leader MA Jalil, among others, spoke in the rally.
A procession was brought out and paraded different streets in the city before the human chain.
From the rally and human chain the speakers put forward following demands:
1.Trial and punishment of Myanmar military junta for gross violation of human rights and genocide of Rohingyas.
2. Safe return of Rohingya refugees with proper document of citizenship.
3. Adequate humanitarian support to Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh government as well as from international communities.
4. Call for solidarity support to Rohingya from all progressive forces in the world.
Comrade Badrul Alam said in his speech that Myanmar military junta operated ethnic cleansing for emerging imperialist Chinese finance and investment in its Arakan province. As neighbor Bangladesh demonstrated humanity giving shelter to Rohingya. It doesn’t mean that Rohingyas live in Bangladesh permanently. Immediate arrangement should be made to get them back to Myanmar. At this point the United Nation Organization (UNO) could play more vital role. He added that as neighboring country India could play important role in order to solve the Rohingya crisis. But not doing that, India is trying to take commercial advantage from the crisis like China.
Other speakers told Myanmar military junta could not evade the responsibility of genocide anyway. They have to get back the Rohingya and have to appear the custody of trail. They called upon all progressive political forces in the world to stand by Rohingyas in such a crucial time.
