Message from Baba Jan

’I would like to thank everyone who has signed the petition or attended a protest for our release. I am encouraged to note the valour with which a new generation of community leaders and activists are fighting. I ask you to remain steadfast, dedicated to the community, and despite any provocations to remain civil and non-violent.

I and other political Prisoners were offered early release if we admitted guilt. However, we refused the offer. Instead we rely on your and the communities support. We must all stand together to fight for the release of political prisoners in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan and anywhere in the world. Community leaders and political activists are not criminals and we must collectively work to secure that no state, no power, holds them in jail.

I remain in solidarity with those struggling anywhere in the world for their rights.’
