Alamin, General Secretary, Motherland Garment Workers Federation, Publicity Secretary Ruma Akhtar Rita, Office Secretary Fatema Akhta, sopke, among others.

Speakers said that on September 22, in Lakshmi Narayanpur area of Noakhali district, the rapists attempted to rape Tasnia Hossain Anita, a schoolgirl, and in case of failure committed a planned and brutal murder. The rapist Abdur Rahim Rani was arrested by the police and three people were arrested and during the interrogation they gave a chilling account of Rani’s murder in a confessional statement. In the speech, the speakers demanded that Anita’s killers should be tried and punished according to the prevailing law. They said, like Anita’s mother, no other mother’s lap should be empty like this.

The speakers expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of killing and rape of women in the country.
