Dear friends and supporters,

As some of you may have seen in the news this week, I have been sentenced to 6 weeks in jail for my Brownface response video response (made 4 years ago) and a couple of tweets calling out homophobia and systemic racism. I’m currently in the midst of appealing these charges and am awaiting a court date for the appeal.

I wanted to reach out to share with you all, the folks who supported Tabula Rasa/Tak Boleh Rasa, that I am currently working on a new album titled ’The State vs Subhas Nair.’ I’d like to personally invite you to check out the album launch website at www.statevsubhas.com. Additionally, as part of the rollout for the new album, I plan to make Tabula Rasa/Tak Boleh Rasa available on streaming sites, two years after its release. When I initially released my album exclusively on Telegram, it was to regain control of my music and establish a direct income stream from my work. Thanks to all of you, that plan was a success. Now, two years later, I find myself at a pivotal moment in my life—one that could be career-defining, and I anticipate many new listeners who may want to hear my full discography. To this end, I’ve decided to release the new album on all streaming platforms and make Tabula Rasa/Tak Boleh Rasa available on those platforms as well. I hope you understand my decision, and I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support.

’The State vs Subhas Nair’ is not necessarily about the trial itself. It is a musical exploration into sampling, collaboration, and lyricism. There will be both new and familiar collaborators, and I hope to bring to life some intriguing visuals for this project.
