The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company demands the unconditional release of all imprisoned labour, teacher, student, and civil rights activists in Iran.
The Syndicate specifically calls for the immediate release of its two imprisoned members, Ebrahim Madadi and Davood Razavi, as well as labour activists and Syndicate’s allies, Reyhaneh Ansarinejad and Anisha Asadollahi.
Ebrahim Madadi, a longtime and steadfast member and Vice President of the Syndicate’s Board of Directors, has been incarcerated in Ward 8 of Evin Prison since August 12, 2024 (21 Mordad 1403) to serve a one-year unjust sentence related to a case in 2015. He has previously been imprisoned for three and a half years and again for about four months.
In addition to these, he has endured multiple short- and long-term detentions, years of unemployment due to forced dismissal, and significant personal sacrifices.
At about 70 years old and suffering from multiple health conditions, Ebrahim Madadi is in no way in any physical condition for imprisonment.
Davood Razavi, a Syndicate Board Member and a dedicated Syndicate activist since 2004 (1383), was arrested on September 27, 2022 (5 Mehr 1401) and unjustly sentenced to five years in prison.
He is currently held in Ward 4 of Evin Prison.
Previously, he had been arrested multiple times and sentenced to five years of suspended imprisonment on one occasion.
Davood Razavi suffers from various health issues, which have worsened due to prolonged detention. Despite his critical health condition, he has not been granted even a single day of medical leave.
Reyhaneh Ansarinejad, a labour activist and Syndicate supporter, has been imprisoned since May 12, 2022 (22 Ordibehesht 1401) and sentenced to an unjust four-year prison term.
She is currently held in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
Reyhaneh, who has previously faced arrests, has been the sole caretaker of her daughter and is now facing severe hardships. In recent months, she has even been denied in-person visits with her daughter.
Anisha Asadollahi, a teacher, translator for our Syndicate, and a defender of the working class, was arrested on May 9, 2022 (19 Ordibehesht 1401) and sentenced to an unjust three years and seven months in prison by the Supreme Court.
She is also detained in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
Anisha had previously been arrested during events such as International Workers’ Day in 2019 (1398). Prison authorities have denied her in-person visitation for several months.
The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company emphasizes that the continued detention of Syndicate members, workers and labour activists is devoid of any legal or human justification.
All imprisoned labour activists must be released immediately, and the baseless cases and harassment against them must come to an end!
