We therefore note with great dismay that the Malaysian government, despite its very vocal pro-Palestinian stance, has chosen to take a ‘business-as-usual’ attitude with the US military by allowing the naval carrier USS Carl Vinson and other US Navy vessels to dock at Port Klang.
This is an apparent signal that Malaysia’s support for the Palestinians is not to be taken seriously and that the military of any country that brazenly violates international humanitarian law and numerous UN resolutions by enabling the wanton slaughter by Israel of Palestinians can still expect to be welcomed in Malaysia.
We call on the Malaysian government to immediately adopt some consistency in its policy towards the just and legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people, to ‘walk the talk’ and consequently inform the US government that henceforth, none of its military vessels and assets will be welcomed to visit our shores – until and unless the US stops its active complicity with the genocide in Gaza.
