The Samajtantrik Sramik Front organised the rally in front of the National Press Club marking its 42nd founding anniversary, said a press release.
The unionists demanded fair wages for all workers in different sectors.
They also demanded to amend the labour law making it a democratic one.
Labour leaders said that prices of essential commodities increased rapidly that hitting the working class people hard.
They also urged the government to ensure safety for workers in their workplaces and proper compensation for victims.
They demanded to set compensation based on ILO Convention 121.
Samajtantrik Sramik Front president Razekuzzaman Ratan said that the workers were deprived of their union rights.
He demanded the government to set a minimum wage for workers considering the prices of essential goods.
Adviser to the trade union organisation and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal general secretary, Bazlur Rashid Firoz, Jatiya Sramik Jote Bangladesh president Saifuzzaman Badsha, Jatiya Sramik Jote executive president Abdul Wahed spoke at the event moderated by the front general secretary, Ahsan Habib Bulbul.
