Update

Thanks a lot for ESSF transfer. It will be helpful for the treatment of Shamima Akhtar Toffee. Her operation has been successful. But she has to be in the hospital for 15 days under doctors’ care. The responsibility of a major portion of her operation cost has been taken by her younger brother who is a small business holder in her home district. It is a great dedication of her brother. Normally it does not happen.

Shamima Akhtar Toffee, fifty years old widow with no children, has been living in Joypurhat with her octogenarian parents for the last 4 years after the sudden death of her husband. On July 13, 2021, she suddenly fell ill. Immediately the family members brought her to Dhaka for treatment under special arrangements amidst lockdown due to pandemic COVID 19. CT scan and MRI were done in Dhaka as per the advice of the doctor.

Caught in the test ; she has a hole or leak in her brain. As a result, a kind of fluid is coming out of the brain through her nose and throat. The doctor has expressed his opinion for a quick operation to repair it. It is unfortunate that her corona test was positive when she was allowed to test the corona during preparation for the operation. As a result, the date of operation was postponed. After 14 days of isolation and treatment, her corona came back negative. The new date for the operation has been set for September 3, 2021.

The money her family had already collected for the treatment had already been spent on her stay, food and medical treatment in Dhaka. But the operation will cost about 600,000/- Taka( 6000 Euros). As she is a widow and unemployed, it is not possible for her to meet this cost. On the other hand, her elderly parents do not have the means to treat him with such a large sum of money. She is now on the verge of death.

It can be mentioned that Shamima Akther joined a meeting on the water issue organized in Dhaka in 2018. Then she came in touch with Bangladesh krishok Federation and became a member of the organization aiming to work in her own district in Joypurhat. She started work to spread the organizational activities in her areas earnestly. But suddenly this disaster came as a frustration in her life. However, still she is committed to the organization and optimistic to work as before after recovery.

Therefore, she appeals to abled and compassionate people to save her life by giving her medical help during this difficult time. She hopes to survive with your kind help. She will always be grateful for any kind of help to you all.
